Charge Around Iceland

On 29th September 2017 myself, my mother and Mark Gorecki arrived in Reykjavik, capital of Iceland in order to drive around the Icelandic ring road which by and large is considered the coast road of Iceland.  Whilst we were not the first to do this as a local owner of a Tesla had done the journey a few months earlier, we were the first to do the journey using  “urban” vehicles rather than a top of the range super car.  The Nissan Leaf and Kia Soul proved to be very robust and fit for purpose vehicles with no issues regarding charging or performance.  Indeed the only travel story was when a goat jumped into the car when we were stopped for an extended day time charge using a 13amp socket due to our being in a very sparsely populated part (North East) of the island.

The successful project started and ended with interviews with the national TV station going out at the end of the main news.  The return trip being to celebrate the completing of the journey and to bring attention to the second annual energy branding conference (LINK), an event that I was a speaker at; my subject being EV’s.
